Featured Artist interview: Mark Stothard (E43)

About: Mark Stothard from Liverpool

"...When watching a film, I have difficulty remembering what the film was about as I concentrate mainly on the film score.
This is the style I try to emulate with my work.
My goal is to create musical ironies that draw the listener in and have them listen intently and try to figure out where the music is going."
In a sense, I strive..."

1). Do you have a phobia? If yes - what?
I am terrified of Dogs. I was attacked at the age of four by two Alsatian dogs. This left me in a pretty bad way.
A little poodle only has to look at me and I’m off running for miles.
There’s nothing worse than a poodle chasing you down the street.

2). If you wouldn't have become an artist, what would you be?
A teacher of music. I would have to do something that allows me to be around music on a daily basis.

3). What is your "formula for success"?
To listen to as much music from as many genres as possible.
Read music, study as much as you can and be determined and optimistic in what you are doing.
Never give up with something that is inside you niggling away. Find a way to bring it out a nurture it.

4). If you had a chance to perform a live concert in any of these 3 countries: India, Congo, Iraq - what would it be and why?
It would have to be Iraq. The reason for this is a lot of people who listen to my music say it is very relaxing and peaceful.
Iraq could so with a little peace at the moment.

5). If you started a social networking project/website, what would you call it?
We Are One
