Featured Artist interview: Jaway (E49)

About: Jaway from Los Angeles

"Jaway has emotions and feelings so strong and deep within and has done his best to reflect them into his debut album- Decontee, which means there is time for everything, in his tribe- Kru.
When asked what he’s seeking from music, Jaway said, “The opportunity to share my passion and soul with the world and make a positive difference.

Liberian Entertainment Awards (LEA)- nominated Jaway as Liberian- Artist of the Year-2009 and he also topped the LA- R&B charts for Reverbnation in March of 2010 holding it for straight three weeks." 

1). How would you spend a million dollars if you had it?
I will first give 10% to the church, get financial advisers to help me set up an investment portfolio for my family and I future, invest in the educational, and social economical conditions in Liberia by creating opportunities for jobs and constructing reliable and competitive schools that will teach the underprivileged children about good morals, about their importance to our future, about good hygiene, about the value of social interaction, about developing self confidence and pride, and about respecting themselves and others. Finally, I will seek opportunities to give back to my community and those in need.

2). What was the craziest thing to happen in your life?

It was experiencing six years of the brutal civil war that ravage my home country, Liberia, for 14 years.

3). What kind of message is in your music? Why or for what reason do you write music?
The message from my album is to promote love and peace and to bring awareness to what happen in my home country Liberia but in a very positive way.
Also, I write music in the hope of inspiring others to strive to do better and love more.

4). What would you do if the world was going to end in 3 hours?
I would first pray and ask for the forgiveness of my sins and spend the rest of the time with my family and love ones.

5). If you were a professional sportsman, what sport would you play?
I would play basketball.
