About: Ackade from Windsor, Canada

"I have been doing my music for a while now, 11 years to be exact and i was influenced by a lot of hiphop artist from the late 90s and the new school hiphop. it all started as poems and then channeled to music.
music is my life coz thats all i think of all day long. every where i go i always have new ideas of how to make music with everything i see.
um currently enrolled in the University doing my first year in Engineering and also working on my first ever mixtape, which i am almost done with, when i get a free time from school work.
My sound is different from all that is already in the music industry because i mix different cultures to cum up with it and thats what make me. i dont believe in only one sound, one has to be diverse so as to cater for every listener no matter which part of the world.
um currently working on a mixtape tittled DAY DREAMING, with tracks in a little bit of Spanish, French, my native languges but mostly English"

1). If you had to choose, in what country and at what time would you want to live?
Probably Somewhere Hot

Featured Artist interview: Timskin (E58)

About: Timskin from London

"My musical taste is very heavily influenced by the full spectrum of dance music from the early years of acid house that I heard blasting from a block of flats when I was approx 13 / 14years, through jungle techno, hardcore, hard house, drum and bass, jungle, breaks etc etc. There was even a period of enjoying garage (in its early years).
For this reason in my opinion I dont seem to have developed a particular style of music production and tend to float between different sounds, I also find it hard to label my music into genres and prefer to refer to it as dance and let the listener decide if they are feeling it rather than telling them what to feel.
I hope my music satisfies - please be patient with me as I have just started out making my own."

1). If you had to choose, in what country and at what time would you want to live?
I think I would like to have been a few (or more!) years older than I am and then able to get out to the M25 illegal raves back in the day. I see that as a missed opportunity, an experience that although often attempted at recreation i'm sure could never be beaten.

Featured Artist interview: Tom Coles (E58)

About: Tom Coles

"Tom’s music has been described as “Gordon Lightfoot meets Doc Watson”, citing two of the major musical influences in his life. Yet his style is uniquely and distinctly Tom Coles. Growing up in Toronto during the folk music heyday of the 60’s and 70’s gave Tom the opportunity (for which he is eternally grateful) to experience first hand some of folk music’s true legends. Experiences that would have such a great impact on his musical direction. Tom recalls as a teenager and novice singer/guitarist seeing the likes of Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Ian and Sylvia, Joni Mitchell and, of course, Gordon Lightfoot and Doc Watson to name a few. Experiences that contributed to his decision to pursue music as a love and living.
He started playing professionally as a folk singer at coffee houses in and around Toronto in the early to mid 70’s but the popularity that folk music had enjoyed was waning as discos had began replacing the folk venues. Although he had by now studied commercial art and graphic design, he decided to continue with music making the move to country and country rock and from coffee houses to clubs and bars. A road that he was to travel on and off of for the next almost 15 years. He moved to B.C. around 1979 and except for a few interludes (the US, India and Nepal) he has called it home ever since. He toured with a multitude of bands and duos over those many years on road tours that literally went to Inuvik (near Canada’s Arctic Ocean) to Southern Arizona. He and his wife, Sandy, moved to an acreage they own in the mountains high above the picturesque Thompson River near Clearwater, B.C. where they enjoy the simple country life that, along with their love of nature, is reflected in many of Tom’s songs."

1). If you had to choose, in what country and at what time would you want to live?
For environmental purity and simplicity of lifestyle I'd have to say 18th - 19th century North America.

Featured Artist interview: Claeysen (E58)

About: Claeysen from Paris

"I'm Claeysen, a songwriter & singer of Electro Pop/ Trip-Hop/ Trance music. My musical universe is sensual, melancholic, mysterious, with a dark touch. It is definitely transcendental and I release myself by sharing experiences, believes, frustrations, and also my fears & wishes concerning Life and our society. I like to call it "emotherapy"!
Electro music gives me the great chance to express my feelings through many ways: spoken word, dance, hip-hop, emotronic, psychedelic, lyric, gospel, experimental...
I have been writing songs since I was 9, composing music since 2007, and singing since I'm 5-years-old. I sing classical lyric songs (4 years of lessons and performance (teacher mezzo-soprano Nona Javakhidze)), gospel music (lessons with Gospel Dream, Paris), and I use all my different tastes in order to experiment with new sounds and enrich my own style."

1). If you had to choose, in what country and at what time would you want to live?
I would go back to the 70's, in the USA. Among the people who decided to celebrate love, and reject war and mass consumption with pacifism. It's actually the motor of my writing. I wish we could feel the same innocence, idealism and connection to the world, nowadays, and I try to exorcize all my frustrations about our time through my songs. If we were in the 70's, I would go to Woodstock to dance and scream like crazy!

Featured Artist interview: Pronoia (E58)

About: Pronoia from Argentina

"Our band PRONOIA (from Argentina) has been playing for seven years now. We are Valentin Martinez (vocals), Chowy Fernandez (lead guitar), Stefan Metlikovic (base guitar), Gonzalo Alfaro (bass) and Dimas Devit (drums).
Our style could be defined as experimental progressive metal. We like writing unpredictable music and merge different influences in the same song, from death metal to funk.
We've released a couple of independent albums and are looking for a record label interested in our latest work, called "Siniestresia".

1). If you had to choose, in what country and at what time would you want to live?
I would stay in Argentina at the present time. Past has gone and future isn´t here yet, right?

Featured Artist interview: Van Beukenstein (E58)

About: Van Beukenstein from Holland

"The band’s singer, Cees Bergman, scored several hits in the seventies with glam-rock band “Catapult” with songs like “Hit The Big Time”, “Let You Hair Hang Down”, “Teeny Bopper Band”, “Seven Eleven” and “The Stealer”.
In the years after Catapult, Cees has been active as co-producer and singer, working on many music productions. His unmistakable voice is therefore part of many recordings.
At Van Beukenstein, Cees makes a definite come-back as a genuine rock singer on Dutch stages.. Rock and Roll!!!
MORE ABOUT VAN BEUKENSTEIN CLASSIC ROCK
Six very experienced (semi)professional musicians make up Van Beukenstein ( dutch slang for a band playing very loud). They can boast years of experience in Dutch (glam)rock, soul, disco, funk and fusionbands, some of which are quite famous in the Netherlands and abroad. Now turning back to their common roots:
No Nonsense Old School Vintage Rock!"

Featured Artist interview: Beneath the Stares (E57)

About: Beneath the Stares from Chicago

"Beneath the Stares creates a unique blend of progressive, heavy, melodic music with artistic sensibility.
Long-time Chicago musicians Erik Oldman (Avernus, Stunato, Radar, Sons of Ra), Bill Hamning (Avernus, Urn, Electric Hellfire Club), Lisa LoGrasso (Stunato, The 28th Day), and Yorg Rinker (Tools of Ignorance) merged their diverse talents to create a progressive music both challenges and engages the listener as Beneath the Stares.
Beneath The Stares comes from the tradition of adventurous, dramatic, cohesive well-crafted songs in the style of Queen and Genesis, balanced with memorable hooks in the style of Muse, the ambience of Radiohead, the artistic sensibility of Bjork, and pummeling rhythms and blistering guitarwork reminscent of Opeth. Drawing from such a wide variety of musical influences while forging a distinct musical identity makes Beneath The Stares a truly unique act to experience live.
The band is currently writing and self-producing its first album, lining up shows and festivals around Chicago for 2010 and is looking forward to establish itself as a major force amongst the new wave of talent in Chicago's music scene."

1). If you had to choose, in what country and at what time would you want to live?
I'm pretty happy with where I'm at, although Chicago winters seem to be effecting me more than they have in the past...So somewhere warmer would be nice for a change of pace - maybe Austin or on the west coast.
There's no time like the present.
I don't believe in living in the past.

Featured Artist interview: Doomrider (E57)

About: Doomrider from Sweden

"Music is the most personal thing for me, because I believe it puts your soul on display for everyone to see.
The concepts created come from the heart of the composer.
It should give the composer the feeling of his/her inner vibes and no one can take that away.
Always follow what you believe in and never give up on your dreams no matter what ANYONE says. Remember we are all part of the same world; NO ONE is above YOU so BE strong, BE an individual, find yourself and BE yourself."

Japan, RIGHT NOW!! HAHA

Featured Artist interview:Luge On Line (E57)

About: Luge On Line

"... a modern melting pot of 80's, 90's and classic rock genres and artists.
There are songs that make you feel peace, anger, shivers; songs that let you believe life is like a sitcom with a soundtrack.
Songs to face the grey days, long office hours, stupid bosses and ignorant teachers.
Songs that make you wanna cry, kiss, learn from defeat and start all over again.
Songs to step out and live a movie, to step out and live a city.
Here you will find songs. Here you will find music made by people who love making music. Something you can feel, something you can never hide, because when you hear it, one believes from deep inside that there's no lie, you have been there too … it’s all about wings, it’s all about storms.
One takes a deep breath as shivers climb your back while the song is there, reminding we're all human, song's a parachute, song's a painkiller … Sometimes unsteady.
Here's music as a promise that things can be different, there's a chance … to soon to know, to easy to wonder.
Music to ride a sled.
Music to choose love over fear."

1). If you had to choose, in what country and at what time would you want to live?
We'd stay in Mexico City, current time. There's this socio-cultural stance we hold "against" a so called establishment in our society (mexican, that is) .. no one helps each other .. no one cares 'bout each other .. fragmented .. that's what we perceive about our country and something we'd like to promote or help change. Sure thing the entire world's gone mad! Haha! But we feel home is always a good place to start evolving. Don't you?

Featured Artist interview: From Dust (E56)

About: From Dust

"It all started many years ago in a little suburb somewhere in Sweden. Dex and Ape grew up a few blocks away from eachother. While walking the paths of life we followed eachothers tracks and ended up working together and also being neighbours. In the summer of 2010 when we were bored of the sun and seeking shade inside Dex’s appartment we started doing music. It was a blast and we were really productive. Miss Dust joined us and everything kept rolling. We’ve made a few collabs with emcees and singers from all around Europe and are open for any cooperation. Our influences are mainly oldschool hiphop, american underground, soul, jazz or anything with a cool beat, melody or what so ever."

1). If you had to choose, in what country and at what time would you want to live?
New Zealand present day, cause its as far away from Sweden as possible. Dont know about the hip hopscene there but it will probably work out there as well.

Featured Artist interview: Anhedonia (E56)

About: Anhedonia from Mexico

"Led by composers Omar Torres (singer-bassist) and Jorge Hill (Keyboardist), Anhedonia started in Mexico City around 1998 as a classic doom - black metal band called "Dark Faerytales". The band dissolved, reunited and switched musicians constantly during 10 years, leaving long periods of time without any activity. In 2007 Omar and Jorge decided to take the band one step further, trying to find permanent musicians and taking the band out of their "studio only" status, finding guitar player Erick Solis and drummer Ricardo Quintana and changing their name to "Anhedonia". After two years of constant live performances and releasing the independent EP "Something missing" Omar and Ricardo decided to leave the band, replaced by singer JC Cuevas, bassist Fernando Estrada and playing live over drum tracks. Currently, the band is evolving to a more open progressive and post-rock / post-metal sound and planning the recording and release of their first full album."

1). If you had to choose, in what country and at what time would you want to live?
I went a couple of years ago to Barcelona, Spain, and just fell in love with the place, its culture and arts. I would love to live there, maybe Sweden too, some great and gorgeous rocker chicks over there, but hell, its cold over there. The time, now. Not really a romantic looking for the past.

Traveling, experiences, social and cultural shocks have not stopped Anjeza in pursuing her dream. On the contrary, all her life experiences has helped her connect more to music and write her own lyrics. "Let Music Tell the Truth " is one of her moto. This talented, professional, hardworking young lady is well on her way to the top!!!

1).How would you spend a million dollars if you had it?
That will depend on my career stage at that moment.
If I am established, touring, have a huge following base and fans, then that money would completely be used to establish my non - profit organization BECHLEM*, an organization that aims to make a difference in the life of poor, uneducated, and abused children. If I had that amount of money and I am not established, I would use 2/3 to invest in my career by having control on my direction and artistic identity, and 1/3 I would invest in my organization.
