Featured Artist interview: Jase The Band (E68)

About: Jase The Band from Zoetermeer, Netherlands

"Once upon a time, there was a band called Jase. Founded by Jeroen (vocals/guitar) and Steven (bass/bg vocals), who recruited a guy on drums and another one on guitar. They practiced mainly in The Hague. They had some fun, party’s, performed a few shows, recorded the Hold You Down EP, had some fights and finally kicked the new 2 guys out.
That could have been the end of it after a couple of years of fun, or they could have started a duo and become the new Everly Brothers. But…
…they saw the light. Who needs another sellout? So they recruited a new drummer and Petterik (guitar). Jase relocated to Zoetermeer, partied and played many times in and around Zoetermeer. They recorded the Friends single but somehow, after 5 years, the light went out.
We tried to find new inspiration and panicked! We started a coverband, recruited a female singer, tried a dozen lead guitar players, kicked them all out, and finally settled on our lead guitarplayer Robin. But we also lost our longtime drummer…
Luckily we persuaded our friend (and replacement) drummer Mark to permanently join, soon after our female singer left and we kicked the covers out.
Finally, after a year, picked up were left. Jase was reborn! Ready to rock again, better than ever and ready to rule the world…
But are you ready for us?
We’re JASE"

1). What musical instrument is the wildest/most fun to play on (from your point of view)?
I think that would be the guitar, because you can create the most weird sounds on your guitar, especially on my Les Paul.

2). What has been the biggest challenge in your life?
Probably my drug addiction I had, I am clean for almost 2 years now after fighting my drug abuse for 10 years. I have a good job and a new love in my life, She has been a rock for the last one and a half years now. She really helped me in so many ways.

3). What song you can listen to again and again?
Black from Pearl Jam, that’s my song forever, together with Turning Tables from Adele.

4). What is your favorite feature on R&R?
The thing I like the most is the map where you can see your listeners. There is only one thing about it, it doesn’t update that much.

5). If you could ask one question to the leader of your country, what would it be?
My question would be: Why don't you quit, you suck.
