Featured Artist interview: Alex Nester (E70)

About: Alex Nester from Simi Valley, USA

"And now, with years of professional experience, with profound life experience, Alex is doing was she was born to do: SING! But she doesn’t just sing...she writes, she creates, she communicates. Blending gospel, jazz, R & B, funk, and blues, her music is soul music that comes from deep within and out through her extraordinary instrument. She sells a song with a depth of expression that could only come from a blend of unbelievable, unique raw talent; honed through unusual, unique musical experience; sifted through powerful, unique personal trials. And now it all comes together for this amazing, young musical giant. Alex Nester is definitely...UNIQUE"

1).What do you think will happen to music in 50 years?
My hope is that big record companies would have become obsolete. Or that they would just grow some balls and take chances on more indie artists. Music making will hopefully change from striving to capitalize on fly-by-night singles and instead return to to creating albums, pieces of art that flow and tell stories from one song to the next.

2).What are the main difficulties for being a musician in your country?
Standing out in a saturated market without losing yourself or selling out. That, and getting your music in the right hands.

3).Would you like your children to become musicians, just like you do? Why yes or why not?
Of course, yes! I just don't want them to get involved in the business! Lol!

4).What is the instrument of your dream? (type/brand/model)

Bosendorfer Grand Piano... and a Hammond B3.

5).If you could raise one music idol from the dead – who would it be?
Marvin Gaye.
