Lily Lopez GL - singer-songwriter, Canada (ArenaCast E81)

About: Lily Lopez GL -winner of our weekly Facebook poll from Toronto.

"I am a singer-songwriter born in Cuba who lives in Toronto, Canada. At an early age, I felt a profound passion for music. In 2010, I started to work on my first Demo CD which it was completed by December of the same year. Music in Cuba is part of our Culture, and as part of my Culture and passion is where I find my best, I am also a Poet, and as a Poet I discovered the Talent to also write songs, it was then how my career started as a Song-writer.
Just six months after finishing my Demo CD on December of 2010, I was asked to write a song for the new Album by the Popular Portuguese singer Fernando Correia Marques.
His new Album was launched on June 13th,2011, the name of the Album is : Gostas Pouco..Gostas. Track number 4th with Title Por este Amor Mudei, it's the song that I wrote for Mr. Correia Marques.
For those who are Portuguese or speak Portuguese Language, I welcome you to listen to this great Album which it's on it's 3rd Edition."

This week our questions are dedicated to summer.

1). What track/album/artist gives you the most summer mood?
One of my favorites Artist who provides me a very Summery mood during that Season, no matter where I am, and especially under the Sun, it's Bob Marley, this Artist's Music brings out a sensational feeling and positiveness to my mood with his Music.

All We Are - Pop\Psychedelic\Folk from UK (ArenaCast E81)

About: Liverpool-based trio All We Are

"The new Liverpool based Alt-Pop-Psychedelic-Folk Trio given the thumbs up by Tom Waits @ International Songwriting Competition 2011!
UK band ‘All We Are’ is a neatly matched trio of musicians Rich, Guro & Luis, often joined onstage by honorary members Emily, Becky & Lucy of Stealing Sheep.
Their self-titled debut EP, beautifully home recorded, produced, mixed and mastered in an abandoned school in Liverpool and an old cabin in Norway, engages us in folky lyrical thoughts kaleidoscopically spinning in warm enchanting melodies with echoes of Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and the lyrical sensibilities of Elbow.
All We Are’s three part vocal harmonies and kettle-whistling guitar float over flowery bass and drums that rise from soft and haunting to driving uplifting anthemic endings and electrifying live shows.
Having just returned from their launch tour in Europe with Stealing Sheep, the highlight of which was a storming gig at Germanys 50,000 attended Fusion Festival, All We Are are now writing and filming their second EP in a cabin in Norway to be released in October 2011 and touring the UK and Europe with Stealing Sheep and Love Inks."

This week our questions are dedicated to summer.

1). What track/album/artist gives you the most summer mood?
We'd have to say Golden Age by TV On The Radio. We listened to it over and over the summer the year it was released whilst we were on a road trip of Ireland and it never fails to bring back the memories. Also we challenge anyone to listen to the track and not feel uplifted!

Tube Screamers - classic rock, Denmark (ArenaCast E80)

About: five piece band Tube Screamers from Horsens

"Tube Screamers is in a sense a classical rockband. The sound is unpolished and raw, and takes you back to the garagebands of the 60's and 70's, but also great current acts such as: BRMC, Foo Fighters, The Black Crowes and Ryan Adams has influenced them hugely.
They produce original rock'n'roll music with nerve and skill, and are always searching for the next grooving rock tune to slowly take shape in the rehearsal room.
As a live act there's only one thing to say: You must be there to really get it all in!!!
They will deliver a show, that will leave you breathless and begging for more, just so you can get that last ounce of pogo out of your body.
The five piece band hails from a medium sized suburban city in Denmark called Horsens, mostly famous for it's prison. It's from here Tube Screamers are trying to reach the world, and hopefully you will embrace them in their quest to keep delivering that great Rock'n'Roll music to everyone who wants to listen"

This week our questions are dedicated to summer.

1). What track/album/artist gives you the most summer mood?
It's a hard question, there's so many great songs out there! A couple of years ago we were on a tour of Denmark, and at each venue, before every concert we would put on The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" as a warm up. It was our guarantee that the sun would come out.
Another song could be "Go to California" by the Norwegian band Motorpsycho from their album Phanerothyme.

Streetlight Marathon - Experimental/Indie Rock , Canada (ArenaCast E80)

About: very interesting band Streetlight Marathon from Toronto

Conceptualized in April 2009, The Streetlight Marathon is an illustration of struggle, passion, and awareness. The band was created by multi-instrumentalist, Andrew Ricchetti, who after several stints with various band around Toronto moved to the city of Chicago in 2008 to focus on other inspirations. However, what Andrew found was a new inspiration in songwriting, and a new opportunity to observe and translate his experiences into meaningful song. The band strives to merge experimental elements to a unique rock sound. In 2010, after playing venues in Toronto, London, Montreal, Chicago and Los Angeles, Andrew returned to Toronto to record his first EP, released in June 2011 at Metalworks Studios with Producer/Engineer Lake Curry.

This week our questions are dedicated to summer.

1). What track/album/artist gives you the most summer mood?
In the summer I mostly like to listen to Weezer and Two Hour Traffic, any upbeat sounding music with sonic guitars and excitement...and of course Streetlight Marathon! right?

"Born in vienna, austria, actress and singer since almost 14 years. The band LORELEI LEE released their debutalbum in 2008.At the moment recording their second album.
a mixture between old burlesque Marylin Monroe sound, some say there is a bit of Moloko, Mathew Herbert inspiration, some soul some disco and some french chanson."

This week our questions are dedicated to summer.

My summer mood track this year ist:"dance me to the end of love"by madeleine peyroux, this song attended my journey through Italy the last 2 weeks

The Fakes - Alternative / Shoegaze / Dreampop, Australia (ArenaCast E80)

About: very cool band The Fakes from Melbourne

"...Continuing to recreate the sounds of bands such as Mazzy Star and My Bloody Valentine the fakes set out to build an audience on Melbourne's local scene; only interrupting a busy live schedule to record the follow up Ep "Little Deaths." This release was sonically a leap forward.
The album "I Know you are Smiling Because you are Asleep" was released late 2008; and 2009 in Japan through Happy Prince Records. In 2011 the fakes second album will be released. The album shows a continued metamorphosis and features guest artists from all over the world. Having guested on four tracks on the album singer Vanessa Wawrusak has become a permanent member of the fakes..."

1). What track/album/artist gives you the most summer mood?
I spoke to the guys about this one and everyone changed their answer every five minutes. Nes(singer)would definitely say anything by Mariah Carey; Pete(bass) would have John Frusciante records playing; Ben(drums); not sure what Ben is into at the moment-just tried to call him but didn't get an answer. For myself i would have to say Elvis-in particular Hound Dog. I could imagine hanging out in 50's America.

Mnemico - Minimal / Tech House , Brazil (ArenaCast E80)

About: Roberto Mauro Faria, aka Mnemico from Belo Horizonte

"Music has always been present in my life. When I was little child I lived in a house close to a disco club, so at the night time I could hear the music beats in my bedroom’s wall. Since that time, I learned to play piano, acoustic guitar and now make my own music. I don’t worry if the listeners will like my music, because I believe that kind of worry can be a problem for creative process, but they must be good enough for me, and I’m really demanding. For me, the music is ready when I recognize it!"

This week our questions are dedicated to summer.

1). What track/album/artist gives you the most summer mood?
Hummmm, in summer 2011 I’ve chose “I live those days tonight” by Friendly Fires. The energy of this song is amazing!

A Jigsaw - blues\alternative country, Portugal (ArenaCast E80)

About: A Jigsaw - most interesting and original Americana bands around the European continent

"In 2007 they released a concept album called Letters From The Boatman. A handful of guests, including some of the most prominent musicians of the Portuguese scene, took part of this project. The album climbed the charts on national radios, it was considered one of the best of the year and the band was also reviewed as one of the best live acts.
As to the second album, they decided to take matter into their own hands and gather some of the instruments they had met along the way. The result was a beautifully textured album with detailed arrangements. Recorded between December 2008 and January 2009, Like the Wolf is a return to the concept album format. The record has two mesmerizing duets with Arizona’s Becky Lee Walters and Joao Rui that linger for a long time, even after we press stop. Like The Wolf was considered by the media as an “irresistible”, a “compulsory” and an “addictive” album. Many say it was the best album of the year 2009."

This week our questions are dedicated to summer.

1). What track/album/artist gives you the most summer mood?
Definitely The Doors track L.A. Woman off of the album L.A. Woman. It just makes you want to get behind the wheel and just leave with the sun breaking against the shades. It’s a dark album, yet strangely uplifting.

Not an easy question... I don't know if this is what you mean by character traits, but I'd say a little talent and lots of hard work is what will make the difference.

Myrah followed this with the release of their first full length album, 'Six Feet Down', in 2010. Later that year, the band experienced another drummer change, & began work on their follow-up EP.
Myrah loves the live experience, always wanting to give the audience something special. With more tours in Sweden and Germany lined up for 2011, they aim to prove they've got what it takes."

101- hybrid music ,United States (ArenaCast E78)

About: 101 aka RedaeL from Los Angeles

"I do not believe that there has to be limits. Some rules can be bent... others can be broken... and most don't even exist in the first place. I do not believe you can put someone's feelings or expressions into a box, let alone a genre/category. It just is; so therefore I just be. As long as you take something from my music, whether it be good or bad, I just hope that you as the listener will see the usefulness of it all and recognize that it all comes from Love."

Emma Roberts - Folk Singer-Songwriter,Australia (ArenaCast E78)

About: Emma Roberts from Sydney

"...Year 12 student Emma Roberts is definitely a different artist to others of her age. Emma is a storyteller; her songs are full of emotion and passion, which is rare for someone only 16...
...However, when asked what her favourite original is, Emma always says "Used to Be Cool" in the space of one breath. "It's just so catchy, and different to the others. It's pop, but it's so real." "Used to Be Cool" was written about a friend who drifted away after being in a relationship..."

How do you think, what character traits are good for the artist development and what are not?
I think it's very important to know yourself and your style, and to not be willing to change yourself for any record label or any amount of money. It's also important to have a good attitude.
