Pearl Handled Revolver - Blues / Progressive / Rock, UK (ArenaCast E85)

About: Pearl Handled Revolver, extremly cool and talented blues band.

"Pearl Handled Revolver have the Blues. Not the slow, mournful Blues sat on a porch bemoaning hard luck, bad signs and ill fated liaisons at cross roads. Nor the 12 bars hammered into mediocrity and engrained like spilled beer and nicotine into the carpets of pubs up and down the country.
No. Pearl Handled Revolver peddle Blues that gatecrash your head and your heart and won't leave until you've abandoned all your inhibitions, sweated out the bad times, re-discovered the wild eyed stare of those utterly in the moment and danced, not because you wanted to, but because you had to.
The Blues isn't about history, safety, tradition and convention. It permeates everything. It's primal, visceral, raw and dirty and you WILL be moved."

1). What is the most exotic/extraordinary place you have ever performed at?
for me it would have to be the Annapurna mountains in the Himalayas!

Ronnie & Heather Whitley Gibson - Americana / Classic Rock, USA (ArenaCast E85)

About: Ronnie & Heather Whitley Gibson, duo from Middletown, Ohio

"Ronnie and Heather Whitley Gibson have been married for over two years now. They have been writing songs since the day they met, with Heather writing the lyrics, and Ronnie writing the music.Heather is an accomplished artist, as well as a poet. Ronnie has been a musician-songwriter for almost thirty years. Together they produce unique songs of all genres. With more songs on the way, these songs are the first to be recorded.
Producing songs together, Ronnie and Heather Whitley Gibson have branched out artistically. Heather, having a background in piano, has recently taken up the art of the stringed instrument along with voice. Ronnie, having renewed his interest in poetry, has also become more involved in visual ideas. Collaboration has provided a foundation that relies on accommodation and respect enabling a unique exchange of artistic values and techniques. Ronnie and Heather Whitley Gibson continue to benefit from each others background along with fine tuning their unique songwriting. "

1). What is the most exotic/extraordinary place you have ever performed at?
Well it's not that exotic, but it is a bit extraordinary. I use to play regular gigs at a place called Sudsey Malone's which was a laundromat that served alcohol.
Now Heather was never a performer, but she is an artist and sang the national anthem in front of the Contemporary Art Center from cue cards as a performance art piece. Performance art has never really been exposed in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Broken Vinyl - Alternative / Indie / Rock, Canada (ArenaCast E85)

About: Broken Vinyl, very talented band from Spruce Grove.

"We are four friends from a small city in central Alberta with an ecclectic taste in music who came together to see what we could come up with. With influences such as Tokyo Polce Club, Greenday, Foo Fighters, Weezer, The Offspring and so much more, the sound that came out is a mix of it all with an indie rock alternative twist to it. With songs from three of the guys it really gives each of them a different feel, be it the inspired collaborations between Christian and Sean or the care free, heart hitting songs by the drummer Nick."

Ohkay so we sat ourselves down and had someone feed us these questions as if we were in a face to face interview and this is what we came up with
Hi I'm Christian I play guitar
I'm Brent, I play Bass
Heyy I'm Sean and I Sing
Our drummer is off exploring the world right now yea we miss him

1). What is the most exotic/extraordinary place you have ever performed at?
Christian: Well haha we once played a show in our neighbouring town Stony Plain in a Library. It was weird to be loud and to have fun in a Library. It more or less felt like giving in to the tantilizing urge to just yell and scream when everyone is being so quiet.

Run To Life (Hiram Reyes) - winners of July from Mexico

Last week we have announced July winner - Hiram Reyes and his band "Run To Life" from Mexico!

And the main prize in this poll was a featured interview with the winner!
So, here it is!
Check out the very interesting and extended answers to our questions by the band "Run To Life"! Enjoy!

1. Please tell us the story of your band. When and how did you meet? How did everything start for the band?
Everything started in Xalapa City, a place full of talented bands and musicians, It was 2002 when I met a friend of mine Julio Morales at high school, we both liked Placebo/Tool/A perfect Circle and we started to explore atmospheric sounds, meanwhile I was playing the bass for a metal band wich disbanded in 2004, Julio and I started to record some demos in my bedroom. In 2005 Julio invited Ramon Garcia (Actually Runtolife's drummer) to join us and form a band, and we played as a hobby in my garage for long afternoons. Friends at high school told us about a good guitar player Sergio Lopez who suddenly joined us.
We realized that we had the band complete, and we were named "Neu Battery". Shortly after our friend Julio Morales decided to leave the group to dedicate more time to his studies, and the band started to sound different from what Julio and I were looking for from the beginning, so we continued playing our first local shows and at parties.

Painted Oceans - Indie / Pop / Rock , Sweden (ArenaCast E84)

About: Painted Oceans , cool 4 piece band from Gothenburg

It all started out as a modest solo project in the vein of folk-pop, but soon turned into something completely different. A union between the melodically beautiful and the dirtily ugly eventually led to the full-scale band that now goes by the name of Painted Oceans. After about a year together in a dark and sultry rehearsal space in a disused brewery, Painted Oceans were ready to meet the light of day. Inspired by contemporary indie bands, dead poets and pure madness they have been praised by mother-in-laws and crude young brats
alike.
According to legend the band members met at a beginner's class in Russian. After a joint trip to former Stalingrad and five days on the Caspian Sea they immediately went home to record their first demo.

1). What is the most exotic/extraordinary place you have ever performed at?
On our way to play in a barn in Norway, we stopped at a beautiful church. There were only three people there, and we played "Element's Void" for them.

Village Green - Experimental / Folk / Indie, Canada (ArenaCast E84)

About: Village Green , winner of our weekly poll from Calgary

"Village Green is a creation of Eric Pauls and has had a rotating line-up for the last few years, the most notable member of that line-up being Cameron Clowe. The band has been on a hiatus for the last few months, but is reforming this fall to play some shows and record new material."

1). What is the most exotic/extraordinary place you have ever performed at?
Canmore, it's a town in the mountains about an hour from us. Allot of ski bums came to the show. It was a good time.

Kaitee Dal Pra - country folk, Canada (ArenaCast E84)

About: Kaitee Dal Pra ,young and very talented singer from Alberta

"Kaitee wrote the songs for Autumn Rust throughout her high school years, marking her passage from teen to womanhood. The musical portrait of love, friendship, and life as a small town girl is an independent release featuring 12 songs penned and performed by Kaitee and a host of local talents. With the help of Earl McAuley, producer and co-writer, Kaitee's songs come to life in the studio and on local stages.
A range of moods and styles are found throughout the album, from the playful nature of the country two-feel of The Hoefer's, to the hopeful and tender ballad of emergence, Goodbye High School. The country shuffle of Autumn Rust, the title track, is a lyrical painting of summer, while the rock feel of What Are Your Friends For speaks of fierce loyalty and the power of friendship. Pop/rock gems, Closer to Alive and Dangerous reflect the joys and perils of a blossoming music career, while Country Girl, a country-rock ballad, is an intimate view of the artist's final steps to adulthood. Overall these are songs of substance - yet there's a compelling innocence, and much like the artist herself, they're natural, genuine and graceful."

1). What is the most exotic/extraordinary place you have ever performed at?
The most extraordinary place I’ve ever played at is at a wedding. One of the guests asked if I could come and sing at the wedding so I said yes. I didn’t meet the bride or groom until after I sang. The wedding was in a huge white tent just outside of a beautiful log house in the country (that Brad Pitt lived in while he was filming Legends of the Fall in Alberta). There were awesome Fireworks, good Champagne and I ate more Indian food in that night than I had ever eaten in my entire life.

Subject ID - alternative, Canada (ArenaCast E84)

About: Subject ID -very interesting band from Bratford

"What would later become Subject id first began as simple dorm room jams as university room mates. Though they frustrated many of their fellow students in the halls with excessive screaming and obnoxious “playing” at ungodly hours, they did manage to attract the odd audience. A natural preference towards guitar over their studies soon propelled them to open mics and even a switch in programs for Mercante - who later decided to take Seneca’s Independent Music Production program in Toronto. The band is currently working on their debut album and are gigging the southern Ontario scene."

1). What is the most exotic/extraordinary place you have ever performed at?
Nothing too crazy yet. But in our first year of university there were flyers posted around the residence building inviting artists to play at an open mic. Halfway through our set we noticed that the majority of people in there were wearing black. Everyone was really into the music, and after the set we were approached by a hoard of very deprived and horny catholic girls who were no doubt after something. They informed us that the entire set we had just played was for a strong religious gathering...it also explained the washy hallelujah covers and saccharine piano ballads. I guess we brought those girls something a little more interesting ;)

And Her Name Was Frank - Pop / Rock / Indie,Norway (ArenaCast E83)

About: And Her Name Was Frank, very interesting band from Notodden/Akkerhaugen.

"…And Her Name Was Frank is a band from Notodden/Akkerhaugen. The band consists of Fredrick Kaasa (guitar, vocal), Robin Kolbjørnsrud (guitar), Øyvind “Furte” Eilevstjønn (bass) and Håvard Floten (drums, synth). A friend of ours threw a festival far in the woods in the mountains of rural Norway, where we played inside a dried-out waterfall. That was pretty wicked, I must say.

Bristol - indie rock, Brazil (ArenaCast E83)

About: Bristol , cool band from Sao Paulo

"Bristol is a band from Sao Paulo (Brazil) with a member from Lyon (France).
In two years on the road, Bristol has released their first album called "Misplaced", with a rock style mixed with Italian folk and noises from a spaceship, all the elements that blow against the Brazil culture.
The band tries to recall the 90's british rock and pop. Their inspiration comes from bands like; Oasis, Travis, Smiths, U2 and so on."

1). What is the most exotic/extraordinary place you have ever performed at?
We played once in a small house nearby our city. It was at the beginning of the band and it was funny, because the owner's house wanted to put us to play in the kitchen. At the end of all, we played in a small garage for 8 persons.

"Me and Jonas (drummer) started up as a coverband in 2009. Later joined Jon Anders on guitar, Morten on Bass, and Maurice on vocals and we became Motorfinger. We quickly drafted away from playing covers and started to play our own music instead. I guess we fit into the genre of downtempo hard rock with a little grunge on the top.

About: Ian Bel from Nesodden

"The man behind the name grew up on a tiny farm not far from Oslo, Norway’s capital and claims to have begun making music “at the height of 100 cm”.
Bel was heavily influenced by a classical pianist mother and folk musician father and by the sounds of a distant relative – legendary Norwegian violinist and composer Ole Bull – echoing down the family bloodline.
Bel sang in a choir, excelled on the piano and guitar – and proved that violin virtuosity is not a genetic certainty – before forming a number of bands during the 90s. In 1997 he cut his first independent album, the gothic Mr Government. Six years later he founded UNO Record Company as a small indie label.
Bel has also composed theme music for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation nation and written a humorous children’s book Martha Martha. His many live performances include a 2008 charity concert for Africa inspired by the UN Millennium Development goals.
The latest Ian Bel production is Fake Factory, a concept album based on a self-penned book about the media industry."
