About: Evelyn May - a 19 year old singer/songwriter from Sydney, Australia
1). What is the most exotic/extraordinary place you have ever performed at?
To date there aren't any stand out 'exotic' places that I could mention. But as for extraordinary I would have to say it would be the time when I was around 10 years old and my dad was the musical director for Mickey Rooney, the entertainer, when his show was in Australia. I went to his rehearsal to watch, and Mickey invited me up on stage and I played piano and sang for him. It was surreal at that age to be in a huge theatre playing for a US star even if it was a rehearsal. As for performing in recent times, I set the bar high for anything to be considered ‘extraordinary’ so that will remain ahead of me.
2). When you are 70 – how do you see your life?
At 70 I see.. musical longevity in terms of my career. On a personal level I see love.. enough of the good, bad, and wild experiences to fill three lifetimes. To have really LIVED. A fulfillment of achieving the goals I set out even today. Having spent decades working my ass off for what I love. I speak in affirmative terms because I have no doubt this is my future, music is what I am meant to be a part of and I will annoy the shit out of every industry executive until I get myself heard!
3). If you could talk to any of the rock-stars, dead or alive, whom would you talk to and what would you ask?
That’s a tough one. I could think of so many artists who would be able to give me wise words from their experience to help with my music, but in the end I’d probably still go with two musicians from my favourite band of all time; Anthony Kiedis and Michael Balzary (Chili’s). I’d ask them the standard Q’s like ‘what keeps you sane even after all of these years in the public?’and similarly about coming up with new material. But then I’d follow it up with something stupid like ‘what was the craziest place you’ve ever been laid?’ haha.
4). What countries and cities would you like to visit the most during the tour?
USA, USA, USA, and oh did I mention USA? Of course I want to tour the world, but for the moment that is number 1 because regardless of touring I’ve wanted to move there for years and years. And I will, look out New York. Other than that, I want to work my way across Europe. I’ve only been to bits and pieces so getting to see the whole deal would be amazing. I was also born in Germany.. I’m not German though! So it’d be nice to actually see where I was born and remember it..
5). Which famous band/artist you would be glad to share the stage with?
Too many. To name a few.. RHCP of course, Incubus, Jessie J, Bruno Mars, Kings of Leon, Dallas Green (City & Color), Coldplay, Muse. Oh Muse, so much talent. There’s plenty more but I won’t make the list boringly long and get all Wikipedia up in here.
