About: The Maybes - an energetic, driving rock group from Warwick, NY
1). How does autumn influence your music?
Autumn has a major influence on our band. Having grown up in the Hudson Valley we all know a ghost story or two and as the days get shorter the creatures of the night come out to play. It's the best time of year to retrace the steps of Ichabod Crane and try to spot Henry Hudson's ghost on a foggy night. What this has to do with our music, we may never know. Spooooky!
2). What book or movie has influenced your creative work the most?
Three movies have had the most influence on our band and our music: Return of the Living Dead; A Nightmare on Elm Street 4; and The New Kids. One of our songs is directly inspired by a scene from The New Kids, not a rehearsal goes by without quoting Clu Gulager and we're pretty sure Freddy shares our boiler room practice space with us.
3). Do you perform cover songs at your shows? If yes, what songs?
We have performed two cover songs, at one point or another, and those are, It's Too Late by The Jim Carrol Band and No One Else by Weezer. We like to keep the tempo driving, it's too late to stop us now.
4). Were you good in school? Do you miss your school years?
We all attended the same high school together, Warwick Valley High, and we were good at three things: dodge ball, running track, and food fights. We liked to shake things up a bit, never sticking to the norm. Besides algebra homework, what's not to miss? Books, babes and buds - sounds good to us!
5). Would you like to be a superhero? What superpowers would you like to have and why?
Saving lives and fighting villains all day sounds like too much responsibility for us. But if we had to choose, we'd probably go with lightning octopus arms for Sean, double barreled butter fingers for Jay, bionic thunder voice for Henry and super-sonic propellor arms for Charles.
