Icon On Fire - alternative/punk, Ireland (E96)

About: Icon On Fire, talented irish band.

"...IoF hit the studio to record their long awaited debut single, My Name Is Casanova. The single spent three weeks in the top 5 of the chart. The three track single highlights their diverse influences, bringing you from classic rock with melodic metal influences, through pop punk and into the hardcore punk influences heard on The Selfish Gene. Lyrically they bring you from light hearted whimsy to deep and sometimes darks lyrics, all blended together with a healthy dose of teenage angst..."

1). If you had a chance to be in a movie, what movie and what part would you choose?
We'll give Q1 to our singer Graham. His favourite movie is the Commitments and he would play Declan "Deco" Cuffe.

2). Would you like to have your own radio station? If yes - What would you name it and what music would you play on it?
We would call it "Icon Radio" and we would play all types of music.

3). Name the three characteristics that you think are most important for a musician to have?
It's important to have an open ear and to listen to as much music as possible. It's important to establish your own unique identity as a band, and never be afraid of trying new things to make your music better. Endurance is another. Never get disheartened by bad gigs or critics etc It's all a learning process and if you want something enough then there's no reason why you can't achieve it. You're never a failure until you give up!

4).  Does your family like your music? Do they support you?
Some of our family do support us but not enough.

5). Please share with us your first experience on stage. Where was it and how did it go?
There has been so many line-up changes to this band and so many first gig experiences. The current line-up played their first gig together on December 12 last year in a place called Westport on the west of Ireland. It went well but the sound engineer wasn't actually a sound engineer and he nearly blew the entire sound system a few times. It was an outdoor gig and we remember it as being an extremely cold day. We were all wearing gloves, heavy coats and hats. We received a good response and made some friends in the process. So it was a success.
