About: In the Near Future, a solo project of LeRyan Burrey
1. When did you write your very first song? Are you still playing it?
1) I wrote my very first song when i was about 15.
I still play it from time to time, but I believe it has evolved into a few different songs. Maybe I'll make a different take on it on piano instead of guitar.
2. Tell us in one word why you create music?
3. What is your biggest achievement of 2011 as a band?
Getting Sword[s]andSheaths done and being very close to getting this album done.
I just need to get back on the ball. DIY is where it is at!
4. Is there a story behind your song "Sword[s] and Sheaths"
Yes. It starts, as all my songs tend to do, as dreams. Sometimes I write songs in my dreams and remember them when I wake up. I think that's why it has such a dreamscape-like texture. Then I decided to put it to the test. I've attuned to different tuning and wanted to venture into finger-style picking.
I'm also experimenting with an "Indie/Electroacoustic/Soul" vibe. It's something I haven't heard and want to see where music takes me with it. About 6 months down into the year, I had writer's block with this song, which was killing me. I then met my now girlfriend, whom, after a few discussions on past relationships with friends, significant-others, and families, as well as the recent death of her older sister, inspired me to write this in tribute to our relationship.
It's also about me getting over a lot of things in my life which has been a lesson in trusting myself, which i haven't really been inclined to do more times than not. Long story, but I'm proud to tell it! :)
5. What do you think of episode 99? Which of the other featured songs do you like the most?
I thought it was great! I really liked Acoustic ZOZE! Really reminded me of Led Zeppelin, which is a favorite band of mine.
