About: Joey Hizon Project
Once you heard Joey's vocal you will not confuse it with any other, because their music and lyric are inherent of some special charm and sophistication. You can analyze why it is so - but it's better just to listen to Joey Hizon Project`s music.
1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
In 5 years time, we see ourselves signing with a record label and playing at massive stadiums all over the world. Definitely an international tour, we would love to travel to the UK and just play at different venues all over the country.
2. Can you name some peculiarities that define the music scene in your town/country?
The music in my country is very commercialised to a point where even community radio stations are not accepting local community indie bands. I find this really strange as there is so much talent, but all these great bands are going underground. I find that peculiar, that the community radio stations are not supportive when it comes to playing our music.
3. What do you think of episode 104? Which of the other featured songs do you like the most?
I LOVED IT! The Announcer is great! I really like The Design`s Burn song.
The song HOW I WISH was actually written about my wife. We were high school sweethearts and got separated when we were 16 as I had to go overseas for many years. During that time, we kept a diary each and pretended we were still talking to each other. About 2 years ago, I came across my diary whilst going through all my junk and started reading it. It brought back so many memories of us being apart. Which led me to write a song about it.
5. Please share your nearest plans. What are you currently working on?
We are currently preparing for a tour of Queensland, Australia. This is our 1st tour as a band as we have only been together less than 4 months. We are also booked in to record our debut EP at the end of April at a studio owned by multi-award winning producer Magoo (Midnight Oil, Powderfinger, Regurgitator). Also currently working on winning the Hard Rock Rising competition, we have been short-listed to perform at Hard Rock Cafe at Surfer's Paradise (Gold Coast), we are in the top 9 out of more than 60 bands who competed.
