Duke: alternative rock band from Venezuela (E105)

About: Duke

Duke: alternative rock band from Venezuela played in E105 of ArenaCast

They take a DIY philosophy and make their music without any support of a label in a small home studio. Maybe that's why every note of their songs are replete with pure emotion, buyout just can not leave you indifferent.
You can download a free promotional version of the album with four tracks from Duke`s official site.

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
The most important is stay together and be able to keep making music, that is something that we love infinitely. And, with a little bit of ambition, within 5 years we hope to play our music outside of the frontiers of our country, Venezuela.
That should be so cool!!!

2. Can you name some peculiarities that define the music scene in your town/country?
Our town, Barquisimeto, is called “The musical city of Venezuela” and also is the city where the orchestra director Gustavo Dudamel was born and many others great musicians of diverse genres, so we have a huge musical heritage that is for feel proud. Here the music is very important and you can hear it everywhere but the rock indie it isn't attention focus.
However, there is a few bands rocking on and making very good stuff and also a few venues, like “The Bunker Rock Bar”, where we can play at least once a week.

3. What do you think of episode 105? Which of the other featured songs do you like the most?
We really liked it so much, all the tunes! A lot of fresh sounds and a lot of feeling in the songs. But if we have to pick one, that should be “Low 7” by Kodakid, we just fall in love with the guitars and the rock / hip hop mix. It is an excellent song!

4. Is there a story behind your song En El Fondo?
Well, this song –En El Fondo (Bottom out)- is about how, sometimes you can chose some bad decisions that can drive you to bottom out, without notice you suddenly lose important things in your life and when you are down the only way you can take is
stand up.
It's in first person and the chorus is more or less like this:

“In the bottom of this hole, there is no way to go deeper
in the bottom of this hole, I just want to run away”

5. Please share your nearest plans. What are you currently working on?
We already have the demos of the songs of our next album and we are deciding how to record it. We've chosen 10 songs and we will start record it very soon.
