About: The Kaines
A delicate indie rock sound of The Kaines consists of smooth rhythm, reminiscent tango, crystal sound of solo guitar and confident moves of bass and riffs of rythm guitar. Taylor's vocal perfectly conveys the mood of whole composition. It sounds like a secular salons music of the 19th century, played on modern instruments.
1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
In 5 years, hopefully we'll be in a better position that what we are now! Probably looking along the lines of writing and recording a psychedelic album.
2. Can you name some peculiarities that define the music scene in your town/country?
We believe that it's peculiar how our town seems to be 20 years behind every other town in the UK. There's more hills here in The Fens that what there is a music scene.
3. What do you think of episode 104? Which of the other featured songs do you like the most?
We enjoyed the whole Episode! Like some of the others featured, it's our first time on a thing like this, and it's been fun being a part of it! I think that Rebel Soul Collective have a good mixture of genre's to their track that was played, which is good!
4. Is there a story behind your song Back in the Candlelight?
There's more of a story to the actual recording(s) of the track, than the lyrics. It was wrote by our guitarist Michael Evling-White before there was even a band, we recorded it at college where only Michael, Sam (Guitar) and Liam (who played both Bass and Drums) on it.
Then it went through many, many different versions, mostly due to Sam and Liam's perfectionism (mostly Sam playing different lead lines). Until finally the group was formed, Pete and Taylor came in and the feel of the track completely changed. Which brings it up to it's current state... for now!
5. Please share your nearest plans. What are you currently working on?
Sadly Sam left the group in early November 2011. Michael has gone to uni, Taylor, Pete and Liam are all working. So at the moment the band is on a kind of hiatus, just while we do our own things.
Michael is writing away on his own, the rest have met up on many occasion and began writing materiel, which will hopefully be used by the group in future, or just as a side project. One day Michael will maybe declare out of the blue that he has a load of songs that he wants to share with them, then it's up to them what they do. The rest of the band are aware of Michael's sometimes ridiculous judgement of everything!
