Subject Matter: rockers from Dublin, Ireland (E109)

About: Subject Matter

Fateful: alternative\classic rock quintet from Scunthorpe, UK played in E109 of the ArenaCast

"The name of the band was very random, it actually came from flicking through an Irish dictionary, stopping on a page and putting your finger on a word, that wasn't how we intended to pick our name. Our lead singer was bored in class one day, when his finger landed in 'Subject Matter' in the dictionary he thought to himself "That would be a cool band name" so he decided to form a band and here we are today."

Don`t forget to check out Subject Matter`s debut LP "Smash the Mould" on their R&R World profile and iTunes

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as an artist?
In 5 years we would see ourselves playing to bigger crowds, to have people sing the lyrics back to us and clap along to our songs as we perform them live, that would really be the main goal as a band, to achieve that sort of a fanbase. It's a great feeling when people sing your music (or even listen to it on their iPods).

From The Ashes: unsigned hard\blues rock quartet from London, UK (E109)

About: From The Ashes

From The Ashes: unsigned hard\blues rock quartet from London, UK played in E109 of the ArenaCast

They rose from the ashes of their former projects to play a fiery blend of heavy/blues rock with the elements of the southern and stoner rock. The entire discography of the "From The Ashes" is presented on iTunes, and it's a really high-quality, original and cool stuff.

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as an artist?
To be signed and touring ideally. There's a lot of discussion at the moment about how important record labels will be in the future. I'm not convinced that they'll be needed to record all material, but the distribution networks they have are still very important. I'd like us to be able to sustain ourselves through the music we play, and not have to worry about other jobs on the size. A modest goal in some respects, but its a good place to start!

Revival: melodic metal quartet from Manchester, UK (E109)

About: Revival

Revival: melodic metal quartet from Manchester, UK played in E109 of the ArenaCast

"...The Band name came as a spur of the moment thing, we were under a few previous band names but at the time previous members weren't as devoted as we were, so that band was disbanded, then a few months later the 3 who stayed devoted to the band decided to try again, so the name Revival came from simply a "Revival" of the old band...Simple but effective."

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as an artist?
In 5 years we are hoping to be signed, have an album or 2 out and a very strong fan-base across the world and hopefully be touring with some big names. Our main goal is to keep creating the music we love to make.
Next main goal is making sure we're still around in 5 years!

Meet the Matthias Sturm:
singer-songwriter based in Auvergne, France (E108)

About: Matthias Sturm

Matthias Sturm: east German born, France based singer-songwriter played in E108 of the ArenaCast.

...I'm hailing from East Germany which is a story for itself, but anyway, my very first performance took place, as I was coernced into doing a military service, in times,
as I was observed by the National Security due to my 'political incorrectness'. I was singing in front of 600 soldiers, singing Marlene Dietrich's 'Sag mir wo die Blumen sind', a famous anti-war song. Needless to say, that was both, funny and dangerous same ways...

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as an artist?
If the public awareness continue to spread in this speed since my debut album was released in Januar 2012, I'll certain establish my name and brand in the global alternative pop world. I'm going to be the King in my Niche, so to say!

Something Revolution: alternative rock duo from Houston, TX, US (E108)

About: Something Revolution

Something Revolution: alternative rock duo from Houston, TX, US played in E108 of the ArenaCast.

Hi friends! My name's Zach, I'm the drummer in the band. Andy's been out in Haiti and I'm sure he'd want his two cents on the subject of the questions, but since we're already late getting back to you, I'll go ahead and answer how I know both of us feel about the questions.

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
We see ourselves playing music and entertaining people. It's our love and we want the whole world to know about it and share in it. Our goal is to entertain at the least and fascinate at best.

Gun Lake (E108) folk-pop\rock band from Ypsilanti, Michigan US

About: Gun Lake

Gun Lake: four piece folk-pop\rock band from Ann Arbor, Michigan US played in E108 of the ArenaCast.

The music of the amazing project of a poet and artist Mark Fain from Michigan, USA, is rather hard to be characterized. It combines the best of folk, indie, pop and rock music.
Sophisticated polyphony and the light vocals of Mark Fain, great backing vocals performed by bassist Macklin Underdown and guitarist Ryan O'Reilly, the groovy rhythm section, beautiful dramatic arrangements and the catchy melodies will not let you get bored listening to the band’s debut LP “Balfour”.
You can listen to this wonderful album online and find the links where you can buy it on the band’s R&R World profile and the Official Site.
The digital copy of this album will for sure find its place in the playlists, and the physical one – on the shelves of lots of indie-folk music lovers from all over the world.

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
In 5 years, I have no idea where I will be but I'm very open to the idea of no longer residing in Southeast Michigan. My hope is that Gun Lake will be much better known by then, but our goal is just to make music we're happy with. We have high standards for our songs, I think.

play_rewind_eject (E108) solo project of Pete Thompson from Ipswich, Suffolk, UK

About: play_rewind_eject

play_rewind_eject: solo project of Pete Thompson from Ipswich, Suffolk, UK played in E108 of the ArenaCast.

The open and sincere music that sounds from heart to heart, perhaps that's how I can describe Pete's songs, which he releases under the name play_rewind_eject. Check out play_rewind_eject LP Back to Forward on the bandcamp.

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as an artist?
In 5 years I'd like to still be recording music and gigging. I really enjoy being an 'indie' artist in that I control everything I do and work with promoters and PR agents to help get my music out there. As long as I'm still in full control and enjoying my music in 5 years then I'll be happy...I'm not chasing major fame and fortune...although if it came along it would be nice.

The Raindoggs (E108) brief interview with Rob Porta (aka Raindogg): Bass, Keys, Producer

About: The Raindoggs
The Raindoggs: R&B/soul/alternative/indie band from Austin TX, US played in E108 of the ArenaCast.
I can say for sure that The Raindoggs is one of the most exciting and original indie bands I have come across over the last year. And the thing is not only in the stunning arrangements, harmoniously combining a variety of styles and genres, in personal professionalism of each of the musicians and in the incredible charisma of the vocalists Larisa Montanaro and Ali Holder, there is something more.
Undoubtedly, a great amount of money and time were invested into the recording of this album – but when you listen to it, you feel that it’s the soul that makes this album sound so well! The songs were written from the heart and the arrangements were made under the meticulous supervision of the mind. In my opinion this is why "One Armed Bandits" has a unique charm. The album sounds sometimes vintage, sometimes mod but always "right", holding the listener's attention from the first to the last song.
You can purchase the album, "One Armed Bandits" from Amazon and iTunes, you can listen to it and buy it at the Raindoggs bandcamp page, as well as at Soundcloud and R&R World profile!
And also, we would like to remind you that The Raindoggs together with R&R World have launched a very exciting contest to distribute the new Raindoggs LP "One Armed Bandits" for free among the most active and attentive fans!
Listen to the #108 episode of the ArenaCast, remember the code word, send it to us in a private message to R&R World Competitions facebook page and GET THE ALBUM "One Armed Bandits" FOR FREE!
Oh, I got carried away a bit, it’s time for the brief interview! Enjoy!

1. Please tell us your story. The members, releases, remarkable performances... everything you want to share with our readers.
The last band I was in before taking a break from music, was a hardcore punk band called Beyond. I was only in the band for 8 months but did get to play CBGB’s with them and Sick Of It All. I tried starting my own band after that but had trouble writing the kind of music I wanted to play. I ended up going to film school and later worked as a video editor/art director for the Village Voice in NYC. Ironically the Voice changed owners the same year CBGB’s went out of business and I ended up in Austin TX. After moving here I went through a tuff breakup, which inspired most of the songs on ‘One Armed Bandits’ The original concept was to write 10 songs and release them as an LP. After we finished the 10 songs a few of us looked at each other and said, “we should start a band.”
You actually played the demo version of “Stuck in Red” last year on E80.
The Raindoggs are: Kassy on Vocals, Eddie Schmidt on Guitar, Josh Paselk on Drums and Raindogg on Bass & Keys.
