Something Revolution: alternative rock duo from Houston, TX, US (E108)

About: Something Revolution

Something Revolution: alternative rock duo from Houston, TX, US played in E108 of the ArenaCast.

Hi friends! My name's Zach, I'm the drummer in the band. Andy's been out in Haiti and I'm sure he'd want his two cents on the subject of the questions, but since we're already late getting back to you, I'll go ahead and answer how I know both of us feel about the questions.

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
We see ourselves playing music and entertaining people. It's our love and we want the whole world to know about it and share in it. Our goal is to entertain at the least and fascinate at best.

2. Can you name some peculiarities that define the music scene in your town/country?
This is difficult to say because the scene is eclectic and varies depending on what side of town, but I can say that it's generally interesting the many different ways artists try to express the tension they observe and feel in their music. Andy can definitely answer this better though as I'm new to the scene.

3. What do you think of episode 108? Which of the other featured songs do you like the most?
I hadn't listened to a podcast before now, but I loved it! The Australian DJ was such a trip, his voice is hypnotizing. Also enjoyed all the information about the artists. In particular, I enjoyed the breakdown in the Newtons song and the outro on Matthias Sturm's song. Both were very chill and hypnotizing which is what I'm feeling right now.

4. Is there a story behind your song "Almost Alright"?
I wish Andy could tell you because it's his story, but I'll try to do it justice. Back in high school, Andy went to California with his family on his dad's business trip. He met another girl whose father was in town for the same business trip and they babysat their younger siblings for a night. Andy really liked her, but the next day before he could even get her number, someone's relative died and they cancelled the business trip. Families packed up their bags and left. Andy never saw her again. He tried to rationalize in his head that he thought she was only almost alright, but she was better than that.
Basically, it's about lettting go of something or someone you want/like/love and being honest about how you felt even if it makes it more painful. He's not downplaying something he can't have, but seeing the positive and the negative in an attempt to balance oneself.

5. Please share your nearest plans. What are you currently working on?
Currently, we are about to put out a cover(rearrangement's more proper) of the Safety Dance by Men Without Hats. Besides that, we're constantly working on recording a 5-7 song EP, just taking out time and honing the songs first. We'll also have a show when Andy gets back from Haiti on the 28th of July.
