1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
A little older certianly, I would hope to still be writing and recording songs as I have been for quite a long time already but time passes so quickly and we really get so little of it. It also makes me think of the Bowie song " Five Years" as well, I love the drums intro on that track. Goals as an artist would be to continually develop and improve without being predictable if thats possible and I hope we are achieving that so far, I would certianly hope that in another 5 years I would have access to some resources to do more as currently everything has been home recorded demos, which are great for getting ideas but can limit the scope of what you are doing. We are trying to put actual drums onto our next demo and are rehearsing with our new drummer Reuben which has been great so we will have to use a studio this time.
2. Can you name some peculiarities that define the music scene in your town/country?
The West of Scotland has always had a tradition of Alternative music so thats definetely an important factor, there are a lot of people here of all ages into doing their own songs and different styles which is healthy, although it can be difficult for everyone at the moment financially, I suppose its the same everywhere.
3. What do you think of episode 110? Which of the other featured songs do you like the most?
We have been listening back to a lot of the Podcasts and found them really good, the quality of music on them is excellent and the whole thing is a great idea to give new music a chance to be heard by a wider audience so we`re big fans of that. The 110 show has some great stuff on it from diverse places, even a virtual band- what an interesting new way to create songs and sounds really cool too! but it would be too difficult to single anything out really as its all an enjoyable listen and we just feel privileged to be included on it.
4. Is there a story behind your song "Mild Violence"?
Mild Violence is mainly about advertising, particularly Film advertising and is in fact a quote from a movie poster, I wont say which film because these kind of quotes are widely used as disclaimers, "This film contains mild violence and moderate threat", just seems a bit silly but there are far worse. Its probably caused by culture of litigation, corporations can say you cant complain because you were warned beforehand to a level that quite quickly can become ridiculous. There are a few other quotes in there as well from various increasingly desperate and crazy advertising campaigns as well as from the news or is there any difference really, it can be hard to tell. Aparrently Smart Billboards can detect the person walking past and tailor the advert displayed for that particular demographic, how clever of them and how terrifying a concept that is really, but I imagine they have to earn a living somehow.
5. Please share your nearest plans. What are you currently working on?
We are currently writing and recording our next demo single "September Weekend", We have been working with actual drums this time and have also now got a bass player, Tony and this all adds a lot more to our sound. We have been rehearsing as well to do some local gigs in the next couple of months.
