"We came up with the band name after hours of trying to come up with one and eventually felt like giving up when Josh said "Let's just call us Wasteland". As kind of a 'that'll do' kind of attitude it was agreed upon by Matt and then the name stuck. Although the name did begin to grow on all members... "
1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
In 5 years, it's hard to say where we'll be because it depends on a lot of things like whether people buy our material, come to our gigs, share with their friends etc. Also money is a huge factor as well, every band needs money to record, promote and produce merchandise. If you don't have any money like us then it becomes really difficult. But we have our dreams like most bands and it would be nice to be playing in arenas, even if it's just as a support act. We'd also like to be signed to a record label.
2. Can you name some peculiarities that define the music scene in your town/country?
There aren't really many peculiarities of the music in Nottingham, but there are a seriously high amount of really good bands which can make things seam quite competitive. But again, they still struggle due to a lack of interest I guess from the general public for unsigned bands.
3. What do you think of episode 111? Which of the other featured songs do you like the most?
All of them! Haha. Seriously though, the quality of the music from all of the bands featured in the last podcast was really good and we were rather happy to have our music played alongside such great bands.
4. Is there a story behind your song "Tell Me I'm Dead"?
Tell Me I'm Dead was just one of them songs that kinda happened, sometimes you get a wave of inspiration for something and you start writing. And Tell Me I'm Dead was the result of one of them moments.
5. Please share your nearest plans. What are you currently working on?
At the moment we are trying to promote our EP but are currently working on playing a few acoustic sets to give people a different side to us and what we can play.
We may even decide to do a small acoustic album... so watch this space. As well as that, we're in the midst of writing new material to go on our debut album. There's not a lot we can really say about it at the moment but we can say it's going to be quite heavy compared to our EP. We're aiming to surprise everyone again with what we can play due to our very varied musical influences. You're also the first to be told about the album so consider it an exclusive. ;-)
