But im pretty sure it was a weak joke. haha

Sauce Babilonia: solo project of Chilean singer-songwriter José Ayala (E113)

About: Sauce Babilonia

Sauce Babilonia: solo project of Chilean singer-songwriter José Daniel Ayala played in E113 of the ArenaCast

"I always love sadness and melancholy, I really think that these feelings has a unique kind of beauty, so I named my self like a Weeping Willow (Sauce) 'cos I wanted an image organic enough to contrast with all the technology and digitals instrument that I use to sound like I Sound.
I added the Babilonia later. I choose Babilonia because the scientific name of this tree is "Salix Babylonica".

1. Is there a story behind your song "Razón y tristeza"?
I had a couple of friends, one from Calama, Chile and another of Santiago. Each of them had recently ended their long term relationships and every time we talked about it I failed to cheer them up. They were very upset, they knew that everything would be ok eventually but they were just sad about it... so I stop to try to cheer them up... 'Cos I realized that Reason has nothing to do with sadness...

About: The Venture

The Venture: alternative/progressive rock band from Newport, UK played in E113 of the ArenaCast

"The name "The Venture" came about due to the style of music we wanted to play, all our music has an epic feel about it, in the layout of the song itself and the progressions we use. We felt the Venture had a theatrical tone without seeming pretentious. We all love what we play..."

1. Is there a story behind your song "Live Again"?
The song Live Again was written using lyrics about singer Aidan's Ex-Girlfriend.

Best Served Chilled: indie/alternative rockers from Nottingham, UK (E113)

About: Best Served Chilled

Best Served Chilled: indie/alternative rock band from Nottingham, UK played in E112 of the ArenaCast

"Gigging as a band without a name, we brain stormed for ages as a band to find out what we could call ourselves, going through websites and all sorts to find one. Then when we werent looking for one, our singer read out the back of a beer bottle and Best Served Chilled just seemed to work."

1. Is there a story behind your song "Fairytale Queen"?
There's not really a story behind the song, more an experiment of puns from various classic children's stories. It was a band production from a combined effort musically but lyrically from Bassist Lawrence on the verse and Drummer Jack on the chorus. Lawrence sings the verse and Joe sings the chorus

someonElse: unsigned alternative metal band from Queens, NY, US (E113)

About: someonElse

someonElse: unsigned alternative metal five piece band from Queens, NY, US played in E112 of the ArenaCast

"...We wanted to make not just music but make it an experience for everyone who listens. Everyone at some point in time wanted to be someonElse so our idea is to try and bring people into the music and make them feel as if they are someone else or apart of something. Hope that makes sense."

1. Is there a story behind your song "Winter in July"?
Dave, our singer would probably be able to answer this question properly, and that's assuming that there is a story at all behind it. When the guys initially first recorded the song, as far as I can recall, Dave wasn't exactly sure what to write in regards to lyrics. Hours of boredom and beers led to a lot of comedy, and thus a song about Dandruff was born. The music in the song was originally written to be fun and engaging, so we added a bit of comedy in the recipe (and the video).

The Otherness: indie pop\rock band from Argentina (E113)

About: The Otherness

The Otherness: four piece indie pop\rock band from Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina played in E112 of the ArenaCast

"...We were just looking for a word you can't easily define but at the same time you can easily remember.
Everything related to "others" is immense so freedom is there. "

1. Is there a story behind your song "We all are Likeable"?
Yeah, it's based on a true love story. We tried to point out that we are all likeable in many ways and the fact that in every relationship the failure is shared. We also show a positive attitude towards rejection. The empashis is put on "understanding"and there's a little sense of humour in the opening verse: "we all are likeable" he says. She says "not you".

Sound Of The Sirens: acoustic folk rock\pop trio from Exeter, UK (E112)

About: Sound Of The Sirens

Sound Of The Sirens: acoustic folk rock\pop trio from Exeter, UK played in E112 of the ArenaCast

"Abbe and Lisa, friends from school, met Hannah when they were all working in a nightclub. They found they could harmonise together when walking/staggering home from the nightclub after working/drinking. Hannah was in a functions band at the time and Lisa, then Abbe joined the band. After a year or so of doing that, they decided they wanted to move away from playing predictable covers at weddings to covering songs they liked (and putting their own twist on them) and writing their own material. They have played pub gigs with Ed Sheeran (just before he broke into the mainstream) and Billy Bragg and have done about 150 gigs in the last 2 1/2 years"

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
In 5 years we will be early 30’s still writing, still pretending we are 18 and of course we will still be writing and singing and hoping for more!!! Our main goal as a band is for this to always to be fun and not a chore... with perhaps a little number 1 single chucked in .

The Band of the Month (August 2012) Poll Winner!

Greetings friends!
It's time to name The Band of the Month (August 2012)!
As you know one week ago we started the poll on our Facebook page.

Until the last minute we were not sure who will win, but finally we are ready to announce the winner...

Blackwaters: hard rock quintet from South Wales, UK (E112)

About: Blackwaters

Blackwaters: unsigned hard rock quintet from South Wales, UK played in E112 of the ArenaCast

"The band name came about right at the start of the project. The band started with Jeff and Mikey meeting through a musicians wanted ad's website, which then grew into a threesome with our former bassist Craig joining shortly after. We were in the process of writing songs, trying to put stuff together and Jeff was keen to give the band a name. Mikey was sure it had to have Black in the title, but couldn't quite strike the right combination of words to follow. After a week or two of thinking up random names Jeff came to practice and suggested Blackwaters as he'd seen a river that was black as coal on his way to practice, which had inspired the name. It instantly seemed to feel like it was right and made sense, we kept trying to think up other names but it just didn't quite sound right so Blackwaters 'stuck'"

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
It's difficult to paint a picture of the future at the moment, because we're still developing as a new band given the fairly recent line up changes, but certainly we want the band to succeed and we're hoping that we can break through and play some truely epic shows. We just love to play and we would kill for the chance to get out there and do this for a living! We truely love it and we're humbled by all the support we've received this far. Long may it continue.

Black Oak: indiemetal quintet from Stockholm, Sweden (E112)

About: Black Oak

Black Oak: Indiemetal quintet from Stockholm, Sweden played in E112 of the ArenaCast

"...Black symbolizes the darkness and melancholy in music - the negative which means that the positive can exist and appear. Oak stands for organic, natural and magical - the earthy place where you often find insights, under the oak."

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
In five years (which is a hell of a long time and it´s hard to speculate about the future) we have released 3 albums and maybe 2 EPs. We have our music as day jobs and are touring a lot all over the world.
Our main goal is just to do what we do, and the biggest most important thing is that we can make a living through music.
In that way we will have more time to write awesome songs and spread love instead of being a part of the wage slavery.

Teak: indie pop\rock band from Melbourne, Australia (E112)

About: Teak

Teak: indie pop\rock band from Melbourne, Australia played in E112 of the ArenaCast

"The name Teak was because we wanted a short word, that didn't put the band into any specific genre. Given we are a band of musicians who play the instruments without using computers, we felt the Teak being organic made sense. Isn't really that mysterious but it works for us. Teak play live reproducing the recorded sound without any computer add ons."

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
Teak expects to continue writing, recording and performing in 5 years What is your main goal as a band? Our goal is to enjoy all aspects of playing music, but our main goal is to make better music than we have before, and that is judged by us! If we can't make something better we wont.

The Arcadeans: blues-rockers from Cork, Ireland (E112)

About: The Arcadeans

The Arcadeans: blues-rockers from Cork, Ireland played in E112 of the ArenaCast

"...While thinking about band names, we were adding "eans" to the end of names to come up with something new. So take Gretch guitars and add eans and you get The Gretcheans. That was one of the names in the running.
So while doing this, we came up with The Arcade. The Arcade was a famous venue in Cork for many years, originally a dance hall back in the 40's and 50"s, it became an iconic music venue. U2 played they're first gig there. So we took The Arcade and put eans onto it and hence The Arcadeans."

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
A 5 year plan in the music business is a bit like looking into a black hole. We could be all dead tomorrow, so we tend to take things a little less serious and enjoy the moment. That's not to say we're not passionate about music, we all are, but our plans are much more short term focused. Right now we are focused on getting our new EP out the door and start touring and promoting it in early 2013.
I think our main goal as a band is to write and record music that we enjoy and bring that to as many people that want to listen. There are so many more channels to market today, that you can build a broad global fan base and let people enjoy they music. I say, if you don't like it, then don't listen, music is personal. Writing music is a constant learning process, we strive to continue to write and record better music and keep alive the old fashion guitar solo.

Remove Silence: alternative rock quartet from São Paulo, Brazil (E112)

About: Remove Silence

Remove Silence: alternative rock quartet from São Paulo, Brazil played in E112 of the ArenaCast

"It was a bit hard to come up with a good name, and it was when we were already recording our first album. It was recorded on Cakewalk Sonar, which has a function on one of its edit menus called Remove Silence. Ale, the bass player, was scrolling through the menu looking for something else and considered the name interesting. It was suggested and immediately accepted, because its a strong name and it impose some of the thoughts of the band on its own."

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
We have absolutely no defined directions to follow music-wise, so its hard to predict how the band will sound in the future.
We'll continue to follow our rules of having no rules :) Having only inspiration and freedom as guides. We hope our music can be spread as wide as possible throughout the world, and as it does we'll continue to try innovations and assorted musical paths as we always did.

In Confesso: alternative rock band from Bergen, Norway (E112)

About: In Confesso

In Confesso: five piece alternative rock band from Bergen, Norway played in E112 of the ArenaCast

"...I can tell you a story how we were shooting the new video to "You Crossed the Line". We were shooting in a cartunnel in a little town called Aurland in Norway. It is actually the longest cartunnel in the world! It is so long that they have these huge caves with artificial light in them so the drives wont fall asleep (see the pictures in our profile).
So we were doing this shooting with the drums, guitars and everything in the middle of the road in the middle of the night. And basically what we did is that we timed how long it takes from the moment you see a car headlight until you die! (52 seconds btw). So we had the crew stand by and everytime we saw headlight we knew we had 52 seconds to get all our gear out of the way before we die! So we've now decided to write a song called 52 seconds :) "

1. How do you see yourself in 5 years? What is your main goal as a band?
World domination? Nah, we are just out to have fun and do the thing we love the most, if other people enjoy our music then that's great!
